What is Curvature

Curvature

Definition:
The rate of binding of a curve is called curvature and its reciprocal is called radius of curvature.Types of Curvature:
In general, there are two important types of curvature. These are as under:
- Extrinsic Curvature
- Intrinsic Curvature
Extrinsic Curvature:
A curvature is not detectable to someone who can't study the three-dimensional space surrounding the surface on which he resides.
Intrinsic Curvature:
A curvature such as Gaussian curvature which is detectable to the "inhabitants" of a surface and not just outside observers.
